Degustabox Review – Monthly Food Deliveries
I don’t find cooking itself a chore but what I do tire of, and often lament over, is deciding what to cook from one week to the next. Trying to find new recipes or think of something different to cook every week has in effect become one of the chores I begrudge the most. So when the opportunity came up to trial a monthly food delivery box service, and complete a Degustabox Review, I was more than intrigued.
How does Degustabox Work?
You sign up for a very reasonably monthly fee which includes delivery costs and receive a ‘surprise’ box later in the month. Simple.
Each box contains 9 – 14 surprise products which range from some of your supermarket favourites and much-loved brands to some exciting products that are completely new to market. The variety of brands in each delivery is what makes the Degustabox so unique. As well as being pleased to see some well-known brands you cherish, the more unique and new to the market products ensure you discover a whole new world of flavour you didn’t even know existed.
One thing that has stopped me from signing up to a monthly food box delivery service before is the reluctance to make that financial commitment.
However, with Degustabox you can unsubscribe at anytime. Let them know you want to cancel the subscription by the 9th of the month and it’s done – if only cancelling other services were as easy…
What do I get in a Degustabox ?
Every month is different with Degustabox, which is perfect for experimental cooks or, if like me you need a healthy dose of inspiration to actually get you cooking every evening. This box arrived at vouchercloud HQ amid a flurry of excitement from people in the office. A few colleagues had spotted the logo on the side of the box when it appeared at reception and reassured me that I was in for a treat.
I was immediately impressed by the amount of protective wrapping the box contained. The interior walls of the box itself were cushioned with air pockets and anything deemed potentially damageable inside was encased in a coating of bubble wrap (bubble wrap removed above for photographic purposes).
In total the box contained a whole load of goodies! Much more than I’d expect from a food subscription service: Daelman’s Stroopwafels; Sweet Baby Ray’s large bottle of BBQ; Sarsons basalmic vinegar; Maggi’s SoStirFry oriental noodles; Maggi’s SoStirFry Singapore Curry Chicken noodles; Schwartz Grill Mates honey & soy marinade in a bag; Eat Water Slim Pasta Lasagne, 9bar fruity bars; Fuel 10k Protibricks; Dr Antonio Martin’s Coco organic kids banana juice.
Total value of products in box £20.14
Cost paid for box £12.99
The first item to catch my attention was the Daelman’s Stroopwafels. An automatic win in an office of tea drinkers! These soft, toasted waffles and their characteristic sweet, creamy caramel fillings, straight from the box can be eaten as is or warmed over your favourite hot beverage for a minute to enjoy it in the traditional Dutch way.
Needless to say, the box was off to a good start.
The next item out of the box to draw gasps of admiration was Sweet Baby Ray’s award-winning Honey BBQ Sauce. It couldn’t have come at a more perfect time as the box arrived before the Bank Holiday – BBQ condiments galore! This along with Grill Mates honey and soy marinade in a bag went down a storm, it really is the no fuss, no mess, easy way to marinade meat and veg. We popped our meat into the bag for 30 minutes and then it was ready to sizzle! We loved the honey and soy flavour which, when cooked off the coals of the barbie, was the perfect accompaniment. It’s a load of flavour made easy.
The next item worth notable mention I had to fight tooth and nail to ensure my work colleagues didn’t steal. The 9bar fruity seed bars are the ultimate fruity snack and another firm favourite with the vouchercloud team. Stacked with nutritious seeds including sunflower, sesame and pumpkin, the 9bar Fruity also combines succulent dried apricots and dates and then is topped with carob, making it the perfect mid-morning or afternoon treat you needn’t feel guilty about! They are also totally free from gluten, wheat, egg, yeast, preservatives and artificial colours, so everyone can enjoy their goodness.
I was also very impressed that the Degustabox contained detailed information about each product and even included some recipe suggestions. And so, I decided to give one a go with reassuring guidance from Degustabox. Reading through the instructions for the Oriental 3 spice chicken noddle stir fry made my mouth water so the decision to cook it was an easy one.
The clear and concise cooking instructions made the whole process a breeze and a mere 18 minutes later I had a healthy, nutritious and delicious meal.
Degustabox Review: The Verdict
All in all, I was very impressed with my Degustabox food box delivery. It took away the chore of trying to think of new inventive meals to cook and for such a great price it really could save you money! I love that you could buy it as a gift for a loved one too, whether it be just one box or 6. It’s so easy to sign up and unsubscribe, it seems silly not to.
Even better, vouchercloud often has exclusive offers for Degustabox, where you can sign up for your very own fresh food box subscription at seriously discounted prices.
