5 celebrities you can find in virgin media adverts08 August 2018
Virgin Media has done a good job of marketing its services over the years, and one of the key characteristics of their advertising campaigns is the appearances of various celebrities capable of sprinkling some stardust on the spots.
In this blog, we take a look at five celebrities to have graced a Virgin Media advertising campaign:
Not long after the heyday of The Fugees, Wyclef had carved his own career out as an internationally recognised solo artist. The Haitian star became popular for hits such as Young Thug, 911 and Borrowed Time. In 2002 he also found time to be the subject of a Virgin Media advertising campaign, playing an unsuspected husband tied into an unsuitable marriage. The moral of the story? Beware of legally binding contracts.
When you want to advertise your broadband speeds, who is better to involve than the fastest man on the planet? Usain Bolt conquered world athletics with his multiple Olympic and World Championships wins over 100m and 200m. One of his ads sees him get measured up for a superhero suit, as a prompt for customers to buy a Super package from the firm.
Sir Mo Farah
Mo Farah is recognised for his stamina and perseverance in becoming Olympic champion for the 5,000 and 10,000 metres. This also aligns with the kind of durable broadband which Virgin Media wishes to attach its brand. The Virgin Media ad campaign with Mo Farah wanted to show viewers that the company was ready to go 'the extra mile'.
Sir Richard Branson
Another Sir, Richard Branson is the founder of the Virgin organisation and is no stranger to their advertising campaigns. A celebrity in his own right, Branson has always believed in 'leading from the front' and, as well as appearing in ad campaigns, has also made TV appearances.
Stephen Fry seems like he has been in just about every type of TV programme - from quiz shows to comedy and serious drama. He has also starred in a Virgin Media campaign which saw him team up with head honcho Branson in a kung-fu style scene, complete with traditional garb.
