Channel your Shea in Shoreditch
Dame Anita Roddick founded The Body Shop on an ethical business model when the first shop opened in Brighton 1976. This is still present and shining today as The Body Shop strives to support women in different communities around the world. Lucky for us, it’s hosting a series of funky activities to hail female empowerment this IWD weekend on the 9th & 10th March.
In Shoreditch, East London, there will be a ‘Self-care Sanctuary’, ticketed talks, yoga classes and wonder workshops to enjoy as well as an exhibition featuring the bright work of illustrator Laura Callaghan. Named, ‘A She in Every Shea’, Callaghan’s work is a celebration of the Ghanaian female communities that have been supplying The Body Shop with the core ingredient behind one of its bestselling lines - Shea Butter - for over 25 years.

Do it like Le Donne
Italy’s outlook on women is steadily becoming more equal and respectful. It’s tribute to International Women’s Day - better known in Italy as ‘Festa della donna - is more traditional but still quite lovely. The day is both widely recognised and celebrated with sweet yellow bouquets of mimosa flowers. Men offer mimosas to women, but more importantly, women offer these to close female friends and family members, as a sign of strength, support and respect.
Be Zealous in New Zealand
The ‘You Go Girl!’ Seminar for women in New Zealand definitely warrants a long-haul flight. Designed to inspire and help women overcome difficult setbacks, this is sure to refocus your determination so you can look forward to your very awesome future as a woman.
