The 11 tips and tricks every Argos shopper needs to know08 August 2018
Argos sell pretty much everything. The catalogue shop is a favourite thanks to its competitive prices and vast range. But you can bag an even bigger bargain by following our quick tips and tricks before heading to the checkout.
1. Check for discount codes before you shop
Argos prices are pretty low, but it’s always worth checking if the item you’ve got your eye on is eligible for an extra discount.
Head to the vouchercloud Argos page to browse the latest discount codes before you checkout.
You’ll often find 20% off, free delivery and a huge range of other discounts on vouchercloud, and not just for Argos; we have codes for a huge range of outlets.
2. Get the vouchercloud app
The vouchercloud app is the quickest way to search for bargains. It’s especially handy if you’re out and about and want to check if you can get a discount on something you’ve spotted.
Simply download the app from your app store, select Argos as one of your favourite brands, and we’ll send the latest discounts as soon as they’re released straight to your mobile.
3. Browse the clearance section
Argos has a great clearance section that’s always worth checking out.
There are big discounts to be had across every department, including technology, toys, home and garden, and jewellery.
Even better, you can enter your postcode to find the bargains which are currently on sale at your local store. Add them to your basket, checkout online, and nip round your nearest store to collect them.
4. Look out for department sales
Argos often run promotions on certain ranges or departments. For example, you’ll often find ‘back to school’ discounts, furniture prices slashed or money-off certain promoted brands.
Vouchercloud’s Argos page lists all of the current promotions with info on when the current discount period ends.
5. Remember Black Friday
Black Friday is now a regular feature on the UK shopping calendar. This year, the Argos Black Friday sale begins on 28th November.
Throughout the year, keep a note of any items you’ll need replacing and bookmark the Argos Black Friday page to get exclusive updates on those you want. Remember to be quick: Black Friday bargains don’t hang around!
6. Fast Track
Time is money, so make use of the Argos Fast Track service to reserve thousands of items across the range which will be ready for immediate pick up. Argos stores have a special Fast Track collection lane where you’ll be handed your goods within seconds.
7. Combine your Argos and grocery shops
Argos now have a huge number of kiosks within Sainsburys supermarkets. You can pick up your orders at the same time as your weekly grocery shop and save yourself time and money.
8. Check the Simply Value range
For great prices on everyday items, check out the Simply Value range which encompasses home and living, bathroom, kitchen and DIY items.
It’s often not worth paying more for branded goods, and you can kit out your first home or student flat for a fraction of what you would fork out otherwise.
9. Argos has a dedicated 'spares' department
Not many people know that Argos has a dedicated spares section on its website.
You can find all sorts, including replacement remote controls, cables for your lawn mower, cutlery baskets for your dishwasher or parts for your vacuum cleaner. It could save you a bob or two.
10. Consider the Argos card
Store cards can be an expensive way to shop, but the Argos card may make sense for bigger purchases or if you shop at the store regularly. You can spread the repayments and there’s flexible terms available.
11. Argos gift cards
If you’re a massive fan of Argos, it’s always worth dropping a hint when it comes to birthday or Christmas time.
Lots of people give gift cards as presents, but often for stores that the recipient doesn’t use much.
Argos gift cards open the door to everything in the store, so if someone asks you which gift card you’d prefer, remember to remind them!
