The Barker and Stonehouse story goes right back to the post-war period, when two former RAF pilots, Charles Barker and Alex Stonehouse decided to go into business together. Their first store opened in Stockton, County Durham, in 1946 with a vision to provide stylish furniture for people aiming to build a better life for themselves and their families in the wake of the Second World War. Since that time, the company has grown to encompass nine outlets across the UK, and now employs more than 300 staff.
