About Wicksteed Park

Wicksteed Park is probably the best day out in Northamptonshire. It manages to combine just about everything you need for a fabulous family adventure, including beautiful scenery amidst relaxing surroundings, thrilling rides, and plenty to keep little ones amused. If you have yet to discover the fun of Wicksteed Park, make the most of your Wicksteed Park offers and give your family a day to remember. The park has been in existence for more than a century, yet it continues to get better and better.

Did you know?

There are two sites of Special Scientific Interest adjacent to Wicksteed Park, so make sure you keep an eagle eye out for the local wildlife when you explore the park. There are kingfishers, diving ducks, grebes and swans living on the second lake at the southern end of Wicksteed Park. In the summertime, close your eyes and see if you can hear the droning dragonflies – they are rather noisy at times!

There is also a 900-year old castle within the grounds of Wicksteed Park. Look out for the remains of a motte-and-baily Norman castle behind the arboretum.

The Giant Zip Wire is the top attraction for intrepid kids and adults when visiting Wicksteed Park. The Zip Wire is 310 metres long and you’ll hit top speeds of 40mph. There are three zip wires running parallel, so race your friends to the end! A helmet camera records your expressions of excitement/terror during the descent (delete as applicable). The Bag Jump is also very cool – unless you are scared of heights!

More About Wicksteed Park

Charles Wicksteed, the founder of Wicksteed Park, wanted children and adults to have fun when they visited a park. Unlike his Edwardian contemporaries, he tore up the rule book and made children’s play areas the main feature of his park. Today, nothing has changed and Wicksteed Park has everything you could possibly wish for on a fun day out, especially if you use your Wicksteed Park vouchers to enjoy cheaper rides!

The thrill rides will keep kids and adrenaline junkies happy for a few hours, but if you would rather take it easy, explore the gorgeous park. There is 147 acres, which is more than enough for energetic kids and dogs. Check out the arboretum. It’s full of exotic trees and when the leaves begin to change colour in the autumn, it’s a magical place to walk through. The formal gardens are also spectacular, especially in spring and summer. The Australian-themed aviary contains more than 60 species of exotic birds, including diamond doves and kakarikis.

Wicksteed Park is a popular events venue. You can get married at Wicksteed Park, with beautiful landscaped gardens and the Grand Pavilion, the photos will be awesome. It’s also the largest wedding venue in Northamptonshire. Wicksteed Park can cater for up to 900 guests, so it is ideal for large Asian weddings. You can also celebrate birthdays, engagements, and even wakes at Wicksteed Park. There are also plenty of rooms to hire for corporate events and the thrill rides are perfect for team-building exercises.

Younger children will love the Wickys Play Factory with its soft play areas and ball pits. No doubt the kids will enjoy their time whilst parents relax with a coffee, but once the little ones are worn out, take them to see the birds in the Woolloomooloo Aviary – you can enjoy free entry if you have a valid Wickys Paly Factory ticket.
