Fast approaching their 50th birthday, Lightwater Valley is one of the most loved and respected theme parks in the UK. Attracting over 500,000 visitors per year, Lightwater Valley is best known for housing The Ultimate, a rollercoaster that has held the title of being the longest rollercoaster in Europe for 28 years and counting. For nine years, The Ultimate was the longest rollercoaster in the world until it was overtaken in 2000 by a Japanese roller coaster.
Initially opened as a small self-pick fruit attraction, the park was launched into the national consciousness by the opening of the Rat Ride in 1987, a mine-shaft themed rollercoaster that excites its riders by plunging them into darkness and leaving them guessing as to which way the tracks will lead them. With over 40 attractions, the park is especially conscious of providing entertainment for all ages, with ‘Mini Adventures,’ ‘Mega Adventures,’ and ‘Ultimate Adventures’ activities for toddlers, little kids and tweens respectively. And with Lightwater Valley’s commitment to accommodating any visitors who might have disabilities or limited mobility, as well as carers, senior visitors and autistic visitors, you’re sure to have a great time regardless of your age or any restrictions you might face.
