The Michelin Star Lunch Guide

For more than a century, Michelin—the French tyre company—has been listing the foremost restaurants and chefs around the globe that are leading the way in modern gastronomy. What do tyres have to do with food I hear you cry? Well, back in the early 1900’s, some clever marketer discovered that creating a guidebook to get people to travel to hotels and restaurants would help Michelin sell more tyres.

Today, the Michelin Guide we know and love almost seems completely removed from the tyre brand. Gaining or losing a star can make or break a restaurant, and often you will pay that bit extra if a restaurant has a coveted star to its name. What you may not know, however, is that the majority of Michelin-starred restaurants in the UK offer a set lunch - making fine dining that bit more affordable.

Whether you want to join the ranks of the most fastidious of foodies or if you want to treat someone to a truly unforgettable gift, a set lunch option may be a way of enjoying a luxury meal without breaking the bank. Here at vouchercloud, we’ve ranked the Michelin-starred set lunches around the UK by cost so you can find the most affordable option near to you.

Across the UK there are 164 star-holders, offering truly extraordinary cuisine that can be enjoyed from as little as £16.50. The Elephant in Torquay, the holder of one Michelin-star, offers two courses for this price. There are certainly bargains to be had, so take a look below so you can start enjoying delicious haute cuisine for a fraction of its usual price.
