With a network of almost 30 shops across the UK, Hawkins Bazaar is becoming a staple of the high street, a veritable marketplace of weird and wonderful gift ideas, toy cars, educational toys and memorabilia from popular films and TV shows. It’s been a haven for lovers of retro games and quirky gizmos since it started out in the mail order business back in the early 1970s. And in case you’re wondering where the name came from, Hawkins Bazaar started life in the back room of a Suffolk pub which used to be known as the Hawk Inn. Since then, the company has moved into a slightly shinier home in the middle of Norwich, but the original spirit has stayed the same.
Today, a visit to one of Hawkin’s outlets, or its online store, is a must if you’ve trying to buy a present for someone (especially someone who doesn’t take themselves too seriously). And if you’re a parent panicking about last minute preparations for your kid’s birthday party, panic no more. Hawkin’s Bazaar has a whole section dedicated to kids parties
, with party bag fillers, balloons, face paints and more.
