Red Dead Redemption 2 and the mythical PC launch

18 October 2019

The moment we’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived - Red Dead Redemption 2’s PC release date has been unveiled. It follows a string of delays for PC game releases on the back of console exclusives, with Rockstar’s GTA5 also taking an irritatingly long time to make the digital jump.

Red Dead Redemption 2 - a prequel to the Red Dead Redemption game of 2010 - follows the troubled journey of Arthur Morgan. A Wild West era wanderer struggling with the morality of his way of life in a world that no longer has a place for “his kind”.

Escaping the law with your band of merry misfits, led by the highly charismatic Dutch van der Linde, the main campaign will see you sink 60+ hours to reach the end - up to 150 hours if you’re completing the extras too. Nearly a full week’s worth of content!

Official Rockstar sources list the game as arriving on November 5th 2019, with the usual expected bonuses for pre-ordering (launched October 9th).

While rumours of Red Dead Redemption 2’s “Undead Nightmare” mode have been denied by Rockstar following Reddit-led detective-work, PC gamers can rest in the knowledge that any major bugs will have been worked out by the console ‘beta testers’. At least one benefit to the long delays from console to computer!

Can my PC run Red Dead Redemption 2?

So on to the big question: can my PC run Red Dead Redemption 2?. Well, on console this game is well known as a space-hog. Ported over to PC, the minimum requirements to play this game include an Intel i5 2500k processor, 8GB of RAM and 150GB of hard drive space. For optimal playthroughs, gamers should look to the i7 model at a 4770k run rate, with at least 12gb of RAM and a dedicated video card. You’ll likely need more if you’re looking for the ultimate HD experience.
